President Bush aims to protect three marine sanctuaries
As President George W. Bush's second term comes to a close, not only is he trying to protect his legacy, but he is also taking time to protect our oceans. He designated three areas in the Pacific Ocean to become national monuments and to be protected from energy extraction and commercial fishing. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28506975/

Good story! I heard it on NPR yesterday morning.
ReplyDeletePresident Bush is a winner. What a CHAMP. I heard in APES the other day that these areas contain a lot of interesting new species and that scientists are very excited at the prospect of studying in this protected environment. YAYYYYY
ReplyDeleteNice entry. I came across your blog randomly and am very impressed. While I am all for the protection of marine sanctuaries and other natural wonders, it comes at an interesting time for President Bush. I guess it's time to focus on issues that no one can argue with after a second term filled with questionable decisions and distrust from the American people. Also I find the following quote from Bush to be very interesting.
ReplyDelete"And for the American people, they will be places that honor our duty to be good stewards of the Almighty's creation."
I'm surprised this hasn't been picked up more on other blogs, but Bush's reference to an earth created by a higher power is interesting. Science? Evolution? Books? Nonsense, says our President. The world was "the Almighty's creation," planned and created in only 6 days!
Anyways, apologies for my rant. I will be sure to follow your future postings.
